| A
site that will retain its natural splendour
The project has been designed to create enchanting surroundings that
will meet the exacting standards of future owners' lifestyles, whilst
meticulously preserving the historical and natural splendour of the area.
Flower-lined alleys
Calm alleys, bordered by flame trees and bougainvillea, bathed in dazzling
sunshine. This idyllic spot, perfect for relaxation, will retain all of
it's charm within the new surroundings.
Historical area
The Beau Rivage sugar factory ceased operations in 1871, but the original
chimney is still standing - its battered stone façade bearing witness
to the centuries. This important historical site will form an integral
part of the development.
Ruins of a lime kiln
The ruins of an old lime kiln stand proud on the sun-soaked river bank.
In days gone by, coral from the lagoon was baked in the kilns
and used to whitewash walls.
The landing station
For almost a century, barges were loaded with bags of sugar to take to
the port. This old quay, so tranquil in the shadow
of the 'badamiers', will soon echo to the sound of laughter from passers-by.
The river
A sparkling river crosses the entire domain and flows, gently murmuring,
to the sea. Its calm waters reflect the clouds gently floating above,
slowing time and creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
The banyan trees
The leafy branches and trailing vines of the banyans hang in an abundance
of twisted, natural forms.
How easy to imagine that one is walking through vaulted arches or even
a silent chapel with walls of rugged bark.
The orchards
Branches weighed down with mangoes wait for the warming sun to ripen the
luscious fruit to their rich and vivid colours.
Imagine the pleasure of witnessing this exotic profusion of colours and
flavours every summer.
A place to relax
This intimate area on the river bank, shaded and protected by trees and
scattered with small thatched kiosks,
is the perfect invitation for an afternoon of relaxation, gently soothed
by the peaceful sound of the flowing river.
The 'barachois'
Situated at the river mouth, the disused 'barachois' (seawater inlet),
in which fish were once bred in captivity, will be transformed into an
elegant marina reserved for future residents.
Wildlife
Deer, hares and wild pigs roam freely. The Domaine will help preserve
these and other species of local flora and fauna, some of which are currently
threatened with extinction.
Mangroves
The mangroves which thrive on the edge of the lagoon will be conserved
in order to protect the myriad resident species which breed so well in
this environment. |
